Our Services

The primary focus and clinical skills of Visionmart Optometrists, are related to treating patients in a more holistic manner i.e. not necessarily your vision only, but looking after patients who have other ailments i.e. diabetics and hypertension and how this relates to vision defects - in essence, gate keepers to primary vision care, e.g. Continuous visual screening for diabetes/hypertension using Fundus photography.

Glaucoma screening is done on every patient. Our Port Elizabeth branch is conveniently situated next to Pick n Pay Hypermarket, and we have ample parking. Visionmart Optometrists is wheelchair friendly.

Our Comprehensive Eye examination includes screening for:

  • Diabetes
Annual eye examinations are necessary for early detection of diabetic retinopathy. Good control of blood sugar levels will prevent early onset of diabetic retinopathy.
  • Hypertension

  • Glaucoma
Causes damage to the optic nerve and can result in vision loss or blindness if not detected early.
  • Keratoconus
Most commonly detected in the late teens to early twenties. Spectacle prescription changes rapidly and frequently due to the cornea becoming conical in shape.
  • Cataracts
Clouding of the lens in the eye possibly due to disease, UV damage or injury. Eyes should be protected from UV exposure.
  • Macular Degeneration
Results in loss of central vision. It is the leading cause of vision loss in people 60+.
  • Ocular Allergies

  • Dry Eyes
